CLEP Tests
During New Student Orientation (and year round), Academic Testing Services provides testing required for state-mandated TSI compliance (ACCUPLACER, THEA) and optional CLEP testing opportunities that allow students to earn course credit for acquired knowledge. These exams require an approved standardized testing environment and official government ID (driver’s license, passport) for admission to the exam. Exams are administered via computer and generate immediate score results, with the exception of the on-campus English CLEP essay which requires more time for grading. These exams are fee based and payable by check, money order, Visa, or Mastercard. These exams may be offered at other institutions, but scores accepted and policies regarding use of score reports vary between institutions. It is the student’s responsibility to determine if they are taking the appropriate exam and whether official score reports will arrive at the Texas Tech campus in time for advising or registration purposes.
